Although Africa has the most youthful population in the world, it accounts for nearly half of the entire world’s unemployed youth. The widespread unemployment and underemployment pose potential future social, economic and fiscal problems. To strengthen the socio-economic resilience of young women and men, FAF equips young people with 21st-century entrepreneurial skills enabling them to actively participate in today’s dynamic, technology-driven economy.
FAF also empowers these youth to create initiatives that are profitable and socially and environmentally sustainable.
At Faraja Africa Foundation, our projects are more than just initiatives, they are powerful movements led by and for young people. From civic engagement and policy advocacy to economic empowerment and peacebuilding, each project is rooted in our belief that youth are not just the future, but the present changemakers. Whether it’s through the National Youth Parliament, the EU Youth Sounding Board, or grassroots community development programs, our work amplifies youth voices, nurtures leadership, and fosters inclusive progress across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. About Us
This program is Faraja Africa’s flagship program aimed at building capacities of young people to bridge the knowledge and skills gap. SELF has a developed, educative, empowering, and engaging curriculum and program that develops skills on how to start and maintain businesses while at the same time providing young people with the needed skills to meaningfully participate in the political and economic discourse of the country.
We train youth in entrepreneurship and leadership practical skills. The fellowship is an all-year-round program with a locally customized curriculum. We believe that economically empowered youth stand higher to stand in the gap to create social change and push for policy influencing without compromise. After capacity building, we always give fellows exposure and practical, experiential learning through the YEPA on the leadership component.
