Project description
The East Africa Youth Parliament (EAYP) is an invented cross boarder regional policy advocacy platform under the East Africa Legislative Assembly. It brings together national sectorial youth leaders from the East African Community partner states. With the coordination of Faraja Africa Foundation and partners, the EAYP. The EAYP focuses on the inclusion of young people in strengthening democracies, good governance, and political processes through civic engagement & creative advocacy in the East African Community (EAC), the Partner States. The East African Youth Parliament allows young men and women to sit at one table, discuss the challenges and issues at the East Africa level and write resolutions. With the space provided in the East Africa Youth Parliament, young men and women are included in the decision-making processes and physically practice the appropriate ways to advocate and push for their agenda in the decision-making body.
The East Africa Youth Parliament starts from the sub-regional and regional to the East African level, where young women and men are leaders, entrepreneurs, members of Parliament, national youth council, human rights activists and youth leaders, and representatives from civil society organizations. Before the Parliament, three consecutive days of training in communication, leadership, and policy advocacy are provided to the delegates to enhance their ability to communicate, negotiate and interact with other decision-makers and stakeholders as post east African youth parliament agenda.
