Climate and Justice

Climate and Justice

Climate change is an accelerating threat in Africa with the deuteriation of several World Heritage Sites, indigenous customs and cultures threatening sustainable development across the continent. Under this pillar, FAF creates platforms for young people to actively engage in local and global climate action and heritage protection initiatives. By advocating for climate justice and environmental conservation, FAF  empowers youth to take the lead in combating climate change. Through the implementation of both adaptation and mitigation strategies, FAF positions young people at the forefront of efforts to address and reduce the impacts of climate change across Africa.

Additionally, Faraja Africa Foundation raises awareness on official Heritage Sites and Local Cultural Sites on the African continent through youth camps, exchange programs and academic and leadership trips to promote heritage and culture for sustainable development.

Our Projects

Driving Youth-led Change Across
East Africa

At Faraja Africa Foundation, our projects are more than just initiatives, they are powerful movements led by and for young people. From civic engagement and policy advocacy to economic empowerment and peacebuilding, each project is rooted in our belief that youth are not just the future, but the present changemakers. Whether it’s through the National Youth Parliament, the EU Youth Sounding Board, or grassroots community development programs, our work amplifies youth voices, nurtures leadership, and fosters inclusive progress across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Together, we’re building a continent where every young person can rise, lead, and thrive.

Africa Youth Heritage Program (AYEP)

This program has created a platform for young people across East Africa to interact, network, and build strategic partnerships over the years. Through these interactions, young people have undertaken various actions for the multi-national building through the World Heritage Volunteers’ Initiative and the International Youth Camp.

Faraja builds Pan-Africanism through conscious raising, intergenerational learning, and place-based education. In collaboration with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Faraja Africa runs heritage camps in Cape Town, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, specifically on the world heritage sites.
